NFL Draft bets: Odds on who will select Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy and Brock Bowers

Sportsbooks have been shy in giving us too many options for the exact team that will take the multitude of prospects entering the NFL Draft this week, but there are a few interesting names to consider.

For the most part, sportsbooks are only offering about six or seven names in this niche market, which includes Caleb Williams, who we are obviously not going to bet to be taken by Chicago at -20000.

Four big names on the offensive end are worth examination as the draft is now just a day away: quarterbacks Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy and tight end Brock Bowers.

Odds are courtesy of DraftKings unless stated otherwise.

Team to draft Bo Nix: odds and pick

The favorites

  • Denver (-130)
  • Las Vegas (+475)
  • NY Giants (+500)
  • Minnesota (+600)
  • LA Rams (+1000)

Our pick

There is a lot of smoke swirling around the Denver Broncos infatuation with Bo Nix. Nix seems to be a guy Sean Payton wants, but the question to answer is whether Denver would really use their 12th overall pick on a QB that they could get later in the draft.

It seems Denver may be positioning to trade down in the draft, especially without a second-round pick this year, with teams like the Philadelphia Eagles rumored to be potential partners, as Philly has two second-rounders.

We understand the fit for Nix and the Broncos, and we're in to have a bet in our pocket on that marriage coming to fruition. Curiously, while Denver is -130 to be Nix's team on DraftKings, we can secure the same bet at +220 on FanDuel.

Betting: Denver to draft Bo Nix (+220 FanDuel)

Team to draft Michael Penix Jr.: odds and pick

The favorites

  • Las Vegas (+260)
  • Minnesota (+380)
  • Seattle (+450)
  • Denver (+650)
  • New England (+750)

Our pick

The latest reports suggest that Michael Penix Jr. will be the fifth QB off the board tomorrow night from Detroit, and the favorite to land the Washington lefty is currently the Las Vegas Raiders.

Vegas most definitely needs a passer, as Aidan O'Connell is surely not the long-term solution, nor is Gardner Minshew.

Matt Miller of ESPN reported he has been hearing a lot from people he trusts that Penix is the pick for the Raiders at No. 13. At this price, we'll bite.

Betting: Las Vegas to draft Michael Penix Jr. (+300 on FanDuel)

Team to draft J.J. McCarthy: odds and pick

The favorites

  • Minnesota (+130)
  • NY Giants (+275)
  • Denver (+320)
  • New England (+380)
  • LA Chargers (+900)

Our pick

The other big question at QB is what to make of J.J. McCarthy. It seems more and more likely that McCarthy will be picked inside the top four, with a team likely trading up either with Arizona or the Los Angeles Chargers. Ah, maybe that is why Jim Harbaugh has been talking up his former college signal caller so much.

It's no secret that Minnesota wants to move up in this draft and nab a QB after Kirk Cousins left in free agency. The Vikings have two first round picks at No. 11 and No. 23, and the Chargers are a logical partner in such a deal. Harbaugh wants OL, and there is a need at WR. Both could be addressed at those slots.

It's chalky, but we expect the Vikings to move up and grab McCarthy on Thursday.

Betting: Minnesota to draft J.J. McCarthy (+170 on FanDuel)

Team to draft Brock Bowers: odds and pick

The favorites

  • NY Jets (+160)
  • Indianapolis (+350)
  • Cincinnati (+900)
  • Chicago (+1000)
  • LA Chargers (+1000)

Our pick

The Jets have been the most popular projected landing spot for star Georgia tight end Brock Bowers for months, but we're starting to sour on that being the pick. New York really needs some OL reinforcements, and No. 10 is a sweet spot to grab one of the top prospects.

As such, we'd like to look down the board a bit: how about Cincinnati at 9-1?

The Bengals own the 18th pick in Thursday's draft, and pairing Bowers in this offense with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins would make Joe Burrow and company a very tough group to slow down.

Reports suggest Cincy would jump on Bowers if he makes it to them, and if they've fallen in love with his potential, perhaps they make a slight move up in the draft to secure his talents.

We're in for a longer odds play in this market as we fantasize about how much fun this Bengals offense could be.

Betting: Cincinnati to draft Brock Bowers (+900 DraftKings)
