Sergio Perez claims he’ll '100%' stay in F1 next season despite Red Bull rumors
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Sergio Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 to partner Max Verstappen . The Mexican driver has managed to be an ideal number 2 for Milton Keynes despite going through a slump last season. However, Perez’s future remains uncertain beyond this season as his contract expires at the end of this year. Now, Checo has asserted that he will race in F1 next year.

Perez affirmed that he was 100% committed to Formula 1 for the future. The Mexican driver highlighted that he has raced in the sport for over a decade. However, Sergio Perez was still only 34 compared to someone like Fernando Alonso who has been delivering great results despite being over 40 years old. Subsequently, Checo claimed that he was fresh and motivated for the future.

Absolutely, 100%, I am fully committed. At the end of the day, I've been in this sport for a long-time, but I am only 34, and when you see drivers carrying on, we see longer careers these days, so I am still very fresh and very motivated. Sergio Perez said, as reported by RacingNews365

Sergio Perez made it clear that he will certainly be on the grid for 2025. Red Bull has kept its options open for 2025 with at least 16 drivers expressing their interest. Carlos Sainz is believed to be one of the best drivers for this seat. However, Helmut Marko had mentioned that Milton Keynes will not be able to match Audi’s lucrative offer to Sainz.

I have no doubt, 100% that I will be here next year. Sergio Perez declared

Sergio Perez expects ‘easy’ future with Red Bull

Previously, it was rumored that Red Bull laughed off Sergio Perez’s initial demands for a multi-year extension. Recently Helmut Marko has claimed that the Mexican driver needs to give reasonable conditions for a new contract. Nevertheless, the Austrian team is yet to make a decision on Perez’s seat.

Perez claimed that if the team and the driver have the same target in mind, things become quite easy considering their long-time partnership of four seasons. As such, Checo insisted that his future with Milton Keynes would be convenient going forward. Although, the 34-year-old would need to consistently give results to obtain an extension.

Obviously, if you as a team and driver have the same target in mind, it is very easy, especially after so many years. We've been together for four years, so I do expect everything will be quite easy going forward. Sergio Perez concluded

Certainly, Sergio Perez has improved his results in 2024 compared to last year. The Mexican driver has worked on his consistency which was a major issue for Red Bull previously. As such, Checo might be in prime position for an extension for 2025. However, it is clear that Milton Keynes will take its time to evaluate all options before re-signing the 34-year-old.
