Guard Spencer Dinwiddie is joining the Los Angeles Lakers at the perfect time, per Dan Woike of the LA Times.
Namely, because the schedule is on the easier side as the league heads toward next weekend’s All-Star break in Indianapolis.
“Timing on the Dinwiddie signing is about as good as it could’ve been as far as onboarding goes,” Woike wrote. “Lakers have two days off and then a practice — and then a back-to-back with Detroit and Utah heading into the break.”
Dinwiddie will sign with the Lakers when he clears waivers Saturday afternoon. He was waived by the Toronto Raptors after a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.
Lakers star LeBron James addressed what Dinwiddie will bring to the club.
“Playmaking, another ball-handler, another shot-maker,” James told reporters. “Another veteran, that really helps. So we’ll see what happens.”
