AC Milan are planning to part ways with head coach Stefano Pioli once the current season is over, according to the latest update from Fabrizio Romano.

Milan have found themselves in the position where they will now endure a second consecutive season without a trophy having won the Scudetto in 2021-22, and the Europa League exit against Roma on Thursday night seems to have ignited the desire to change things.

The seven victories in a row starting in March had increased Pioli’s chances of staying, as did the constant public backing of the management and the chances of a deep run in Europe.

The elimination from the Europa League – which came after two very worrying performances – seems to have been the final straw for Pioli’s future with the Rossoneri, especially given how far away Inter are in the league.

Romano has given an update on his X profile regarding the future of Pioli and he confirmed that the ownership have decided to make a change for next season.

“AC Milan plans remain clear and have not changed: Stefano Pioli, expected to be sacked at the end of the season. Formal steps to follow in the next weeks to part ways with the manager,” he said.
