Is AJ Styles Going To Retire From WWE Soon?
WWE

As some Superstars get a bit older, they get wiser and ask questions, and now it’s our turn: is AJ Styles going to retire from WWE soon?

He arrived in WWE quite some time ago now, but came in as a major free agent signing. Following his big debut in the Royal Rumble, he progressed through the company. Styles has enjoyed major championship success-but none recently. We saw Styles battle LA Knight in a very good WrestleMania match. Now, we will be getting a re-match between the two, but with much bigger stakes. Styles and Knight are set to tangle on the April 19th SmackDown. Whichever Superstar wins will serve as Cody Rhodes‘ first title challenger.

Time running out?

Recently, AJ Styles spoke with The Ringer podcast. PWMania was kind enough to provide a write-up. The interview broached the topic of career longevity, and the response was telling. Styles noted that he has been wrestling more than half his life, and he is starting to note he is hurting getting out of bed more often than not. That’s getting him thinking, but something else might be getting him closer to a retirement decision. As Styles put it: “I’m getting to that point where I am worried about embarrassing myself, my brain says we can do this, and my body is like, you’re stupid, we can not do this”.

Honestly, given the risks taken on a regular basis, it’s admirable to admit that. Is it sad? Sure, fans don’t like seeing their favorite wrestlers retire, but it is something that eventually happens. Even if your name is Ric Flair. Father Time remains undefeated, as many professional athletes say, and it’s true. Styles doesn’t want to be embarrassed. He does not want to be “that guy” who stuck around too long. With that said, it’s possible that AJ Styles and his in-ring career could indeed be winding down.
